WoW has had a genuine botting problem since Vanilla days, as there were plenty of bots designed to do loops around Eastern/Western Plaguelands for mining+herbalism. Looking at your other comments in this thread I have a feeling you don’t fully understand how bots work or what they do-generally speaking if you are noticing them then they are doing something wrong. It’s not uncommon to see practically the entire top 100 for every class be characters with 22/23 hours a day play time for the entire first month straight. You didn’t see many chat spamming bots, but the top Ladder spots have been taken by botters since shortly after Reaper of Souls launch.

Normal cows however has an item level high enough to cap it at 4. A crystal sword normally has 6 max but one found on normal has a max of 3. The remaining items types will gain max sockets (capped by their item level). It will also randomly add 1 or 2 sockets to a magical item. The Lazark quest can add 1 socket to rares, sets, uniques and crafted items. Runes can be put into anything for their effect so other items with sockets can be useful. This affix does add sockets but because the item has an affix it cannot accept runewords. For example if it was a Jewelers Crystal Sword it would be a magical weapon with the Jewelers affix. The blue text of superior is not what makes an item magical. It can be a basic crystal sword, etheral or even superior.
Just to summarize items with sockets cannot gain any more sockets.Ī crystal sword from normal cows will always get 4 sockets from the Lazark quest.
